Butuan ~ Architecture
One of the prominent landmarks once you get to Butuan coming from the western part of the city is the Santo Nino Shrine. The original site used to be located farther from the road until this Butuan’s urban barangay experienced rapid population growth that a bigger more grander church building have to be built. Constructed in the late nineties, it sports neo-colonial design, with mactan stone prominently used in its facade. This church building is one of the Philippines’ unique as its main altar offers a ‘see through’ window that allows the worshipers view the outside landscapes.
